A journey of education & consultation
Aurora Energy is our local lines company that supplies electricity from the National Grid to homes and businesses in Dunedin, Central Otago and the lakes district. If you had asked us to explain that at the start of the project we probably couldn’t have answered that….nor could most others we talked to!
So when Aurora Energy approached us to help them with their Consumer Price-Quality Path consultation we jumped at the challenge. As a regulated business, Aurora Energy is required to consult with consumers before changing prices they charge. Our distribution prices have been among the lowest in the country but are no longer sufficient to support the level of investment needed to provide a safe and reliable service and to prepare the network for the future.
But, how do you consult the public for their thoughts when most (like us) don’t really know what they do? Educate!
We sat down with Aurora Energy and came up with a content strategy that would first educate the public then engage them for their views. A process that has seen us create a wide array of content over a six month period. Brand Videos, Staff Stories, Advisory Panel Reviews, Educational Pieces and most importantly getting out into to the public to share their thoughts and understanding of Aurora Energy.
An on-going project that has definitely challenged us! But, a challenge we have enjoyed and learnt a lot from.
